After-hours healthcare during the holiday season
Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN) is helping ensure the local community has access to after-hours healthcare this Christmas and New Year.
The Wagga GP After Hours Service, located at 1/185 Morgan Street, Wagga Wagga, will be operating every day this holiday season, providing essential after-hours care.
MPHN’s Senior Manager Integration Toni Preuss said the service was ideal for patients needing help when their regular GP is unavailable.
“The Wagga GP After Hours Service is staffed by friendly local GPs who are able to give you the care you need and send a report to your regular GP to ensure continuity of care,” Ms Preuss said.

“We offer bulk billing for children under 16, concession card holders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and students. Our phone lines open 30 minutes before clinic opening times. You can make an appointment or speak to the on-call General Practitioner by phoning 02 6931 0900. Visit the MPHN website for further details.
“We also offer HealthAccess, a GP telehealth after-hours service, to the communities of Griffith and surrounding Murrumbidgee and Carrathool shires, Leeton Shire, Finley, Berrigan, Deniliquin, and surrounding Berrigan and Edward River shires. The HealthAccess service is available by calling 1800 272 767.”
Ms Preuss advised that people can also contact healthdirect for healthcare advice and information, available online at healthdirect.gov.au or by calling 1800 022 222.
“If you’re concerned about symptoms, or you can’t manage your condition, please seek advice by contacting one of these services,” Ms Preuss said.
“If you have a medical emergency or life-threatening condition, please dial 000 or visit your closest emergency department.”
