Murrumbidgee Pitch Night applications now open

Community-driven and locally based organisations across the Murrumbidgee are encouraged to submit their ideas for one-off grant funding for activities that aim to support population health across the Murrumbidgee region.

The funding opportunity is part of Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network’s (MPHN) Pitch Night which aims to provide grassroots funding to three innovative projects, with funding amounts determined by local people. Three short-listed applicants will each pitch to a room of community representatives from across the Murrumbidgee region, with this year’s event to be held in Finley on Monday 26 September 2022.

Acting MPHN CEO Narelle Mills said Pitch Night is returning after a postponement due to the
COVID-19 pandemic and represents an opportunity for community organisations in the Murrumbidgee to secure funding for an innovative project.

“The aim of Pitch Night is to provide one-off grant funding for organisations to establish innovative projects focusing on increasing physical activity, improving nutrition, enhancing mental wellbeing, and promoting healthy living,”

“At the 2019 event we saw programs pitched that aimed to build resilience for young people, invigorate health and wellbeing for seniors and tackle obesity. All were very well received by the community and benefited greatly from the grant funding they received. I’m looking forward to seeing what Pitch Night 2022 brings.”

Pitch Night 2019 was held at the Local Health Advisory Committee (LHAC) Forum in Griffith and Griffith’s LHAC Chair Margaret King said she is excited the event is returning to the Murrumbidgee.

“During the 2019 event we were honoured to hear from three remarkable, passionate presenters and it was wonderful to be a part of deciding where the money would go,” she said.

“It is so important these opportunities exist so that grassroots organisations can put forward their ideas and the community can play a role in selecting the best projects to meet community needs.”

Applications close at 3pm on Wednesday 13 July 2022 and for more information about Pitch Night and to submit your pitch visit www.mphn.org.au/pitch-night.
