Nominations for regional health awards now open

Health professionals, organisations and communities are set to be recognised for their valuable contributions to improving health outcomes in the region during the past 12 months.

Nominations for Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network’s (MPHN) annual Primary Healthcare Awards opened today, with award categories including Outstanding Contribution to Leadership in Primary Healthcare; Innovation; Promoting Healthy Living; and Murrumbidgee Community Grant of the Year.

MPHN Board Chair Dr Jodi Culbert encouraged individuals, organisations and communities to submit award nominations prior to the 4 October closing date.

“As a general practitioner, every day I see my colleagues, other health professionals and organisations implementing meaningful strategies to improve health outcomes for their patients,” Dr Culbert said.

“It might be by striving to improve health literacy; encouraging better lifestyle choices to combat weight, chronic disease, or alcohol and drug issues; reducing hospital admissions; or improving mental health and wellbeing.”

MPHN CEO Melissa Neal said the awards presented a vital opportunity for the wider community to show their support and gratitude for those in the health industry.

“During 2020 in particular, our primary healthcare providers have faced some enormous challenges, with the devastating bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“These awards are one way of showing our appreciation for the efforts of those who have worked tirelessly to keep our communities safe and healthy during this period.”

Award winners will be announced during a virtual presentation on 14 November 2020.
