Neonatal abstinence syndrome-What happens next? Wagga

Neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) is a complex syndrome of withdrawal occurring in newborn infants that is caused by intra-uterine exposure to maternal drugs of addiction and without treatment, has an astoundingly high mortality and morbidity rate. With prompt recognition and treatment, most babies with NAS survive and their outcomes are concerning.
